IN conclusion, I bring you the marvelous gods and goddesses of Capital High!

What did we learn children?

Here are a few facts about the wonderful classmates I have, and details woven into their presentations. Shall I begin? Alright here we go!

1.) Ra(Isabelle)

  • Sekhmet(Hathor), the daughter/creation of Ra, liked her image best when coated in the blood of slain humans. Sekhmet was a tool which Ra used to bring low humankind by culling them.

2.) Thor (Sidney(Lamb-chop))

  • The chariot of Thor is pulled by two goats, which Thor also eats. After eating them, the goats regrow into their uneaten forms.
3.) Odin(Ethan)
  • Odin wears two belts. This is not a fashion unique to Asgard but actually both serve individualized purposes. One holds his sword and scabbard, and the other holds the keys to Asgard.
4.)Loki(Rosie)
  • This trickster God is actually the mother of Odin's eight-legged mount Sleipnir. You read correctly, Loki was the mother of a horse, despite being a male. The father is a stallion owned by a giant of unknown origin.

5.)Balder/Cassie

  • The house of Balder is ornate to be for sure, and this is expected. What is rather unusual is that the pillars are made of silver, and the rest is made of gold. In this profusely decadent residence no evil can exist, befitting the characteristics of this gentle Nordic god.
6.)Freya/Rena
  • When Freya couldn't find her Od (her husband) almost all of the plants in the seven realms withered, except for the myrtle Od slept under, that still lived.
7.)Set(Roseanna)
  • Set is god over numerous elements. He is God of wind, chaos, and sand. The vast ruinous edges of the Earth over which he rules are parched desert, mirroring his traits.
8.) Jade Emperor(Caleb)
  • Before he was an emperor, before he was a god in fact, an enormous demon of great power was slaughtering men across China. All gods who attempted to stop the entity fled in defeat. The jade Emperor used the power of the Tao to destroy the monster with his mind! And eliminating this demon elevated him to god-status.
9.)Coyote(Thomas)
  • For an eternity, humans were without fire. Coyote gave them this. How did he do it? Well he stole it from rather secretive fire beings of course.
10.)Hermes(Connor)
  • You may know of how Hermes stole Apollo's cattle. You probably don't know that after plundering them, the baby god sliced off their hooves and placed them back on, backwards. And so, Apollo's cattle were forced to walk backwards for a very long time.
11.)Artemis(Annelise)
  • When hunting, Artemis was bathing in a stream in the nude. At this moment the prince Acteon was hunting also, and he happened upon Artemis. He stared at the sight for awhile before Artemis noticed. As soon as her dreadful gaze fell on him, he turned into a deer and fled. Then his dogs caught scent of him and tore him to pieces. There is even rumor that she laughed as the jaws of the hounds bit into Acteon's flesh. How disturbing.
12.) Isis(Maggie)
  • After Osiris was dismembered by his own vile scheming brother, Set, Isis set out to "reconstruct" him. She found thirteen out of fourteen body parts. I will not state what the remaining one was, as it is rather 'private' and leave it up to imagination. So she conjured up a facsimile wrought in gold to replace the missing portion. It functioned fine, and with Osiris, Isis became pregnant with the god Horus.
13.)Raven(Maxwell(Maximus))
  • As a young little Raven, this deity was severely spoiled. So whenever he cried, he got exactly what he desired. Raven wanted light in the sky. So he bawled and bawled until his grandfather, gave him what we call the sun, the moon, and the stars.
14.)Apollo(Jamie)
  • Many know of the famed oracles that told prophecies of Apollo on the isle of Delphi. These many do not know for the most part of the fierce monstrosity that guards that isle. Pytho is the name of the beast. A giant serpent, it wriggles in the Ionian sea, seeking out those who would harm the oracles.
15.)Horus(Kelsey)
  • Horus transforms into a lion now and then, despite the fact that he is a falcon god.
16.)Osiris(Sydney)
  • Day to day, Osiris reads from the book of the dead. In this book is written all the actions of the deceased. As the god and ruler of the underworld Osiris interprets the deeds of the shades. Armed with this judgment, he decides whether they stay in the underworld(normal shade) or go to heaven(good soul). Even worse, he may have the devourer of the dead consume them into nothingness.

Obvious or not, the wind fights a rock.

Air and stone

For millennium, the magic stone sat upon the mountaintops raised high above the valleys of flowers and fruits. So began my story, as it has been told by many tongues. Caressed by the wind, coated in ethereal plants, and exposed to enchanted rays of the early suns, this rock became pregnant. After a particularly long period of pregnancy ( several decades), a stone egg the size of a ball emerged. Years went by as the rock grew in size, looking down upon the western island jungles. One day, cracks formed in the stone, and they widened quickly. Soon the rock shattered, and out of the rubble came a most curious creature. Case you don't already get the obvious hints, the creature is me. So anyways I swaggered out, and sat down and looked up at the sky. Only the Jade Emperor knows how long I stared at the sky, but as I looked over yonder his royal majesty was disturbed. Why was he disturbed? Because my eyes were glowing golden, and their light was brighter than the sun.So yes, that's how baby monkey demons are made. The battle here is rather too greatly symbolic for my tastes. You see, I was destined to follow my so called 'Parents' footsteps, either as stone, a statue chiseled out of rock, that or become like the wind, being swift and laughing. I thought about it for some time, but in the end I chose to be more like 'dad'(who wants to sit for all eternity as a star-gazer? Not me.). After I stood up and began to explore, I lost my golden touch, and was like any other normal monkey... demon. So I went on to prove myself to other apes and in conquering their trials, I became their righteous ruler.First I proved my bravery by leaping off a waterfall, second I proving my strength by defeating some trials. Then of course trying times, and struggles, blah blah blah blah. Actually becoming the Monkey King was the easy part, now keeping the throne? That is and was hard. All this awesomeness was merely too much for the monkeys, so they made me their king.

So I wasn't standing there anymore

How to solve the problem of being in place, and not moving. The answer?   Walking.

Seeing that the conflict is just moving out of place, the resolution is obviously moving. After moving, I began to wander, began to eat and slept my glow faded. Without glowing eyes, and being transfixed upon the gyrating stars I was just another monkey... demon. And so began my gathering of the ape peoples, and I was to become their totally awesome ruler, the great sage equal of heaven.

So I was standing there.

The climax is(drum roll please)... actually moving!

While I have already stated the conflict present in my tale, the epiphany of the struggle is actually stepping aside and walking away. Though I may be known for my amazing Kung Fu action, this tale is sadly bereft of any such slaughter. The tale is a brief one, more of an introduction that leads up to my 81 trials in Journey to the West.  The conflict begins as I clamber out of my egg, I gaze at the heavens for several days. After some intense staring at the sky, I move and as I begin exploring the world around me, the aforementioned conflict ends and the real trials begin.

The struggle is literally being born, this is NOT your typical conflict.

The fight to exist?

In every tale there is a conflict, in this tale of my creation the conflict is the creation itself.  There are no battles, no enemies, only the fight to exist. What is this battle I fought? The battle to exist is one of coming into the world ( though I came silently). I came into the world in an egg, so the battle is not one of making myself, that was done by my 'parents'. Rather the fight was the one of willing to move and live. I sat for days with my own gleaming eyes transfixed upon heaven, and could have sat there forever. A decision, which is made by two differing thoughts. I decided to live and move, not contemplate the stars(who does something so boring anyways). I choose the wise path, and became the immortal Monkey King. Otherwise, I would still be standing as still as statue( quite literally, being made of stone and all that).

The vast array of characters incurred by the stroke of the historians pen. Basically, me, a rock, a messenger, and the ruler of the universe.

Characters in the tale

Now, this story doesn't exactly have a large amount of complex characters, but it does have a few. Firstly, since the tale centers around me I am obviously present. Should you mere mortals be unaware of my magnanimous repute and great titles, then I'd be the Monkey King(he who is aware of the void). So in general summary we have Me, my mother (a glowing rock of magic and happy sunshine(no really, she is)), my father(the winds), the Jade emperor in all his talk of "being the greatest being in the universe and stuff", as well as his attendant court. There are references to some of the heavenly messengers, scholars, and star-watchers as well. Otherwise, these few characters occupy the lofty position of being present in the tale of my birth. Should it not be clear as to what this tale is, wait and you shall see.

China is where its at folks, Point of origin and what not.

Where do I come from?

Well, there are two ways to go about my location as the monkey king. One, in the actual world you touch and see, I am present in all of China and the general orient. In the mythologic plane of existence, I come from the mountain of flowers and fruit, located in the far western sea. This is a lush island with waterfalls, trickling streams and forests speckled with apes.

References, works of art, and all related items in popular culture (HAVING TO DO WITH ME)

* The journey to the west = One of the three great novels of Chinese literature, this tale centering around the search for the sutras. The most recent form of the book was written in the 17th century, but the tale is almost two thousand and three hundred years old.

*The monkey king = This upcoming movie, to be released later this year, is one of the many re-adaptions of my story put in film. The movie is being filmed and marketed mainly in China, and will garner most of its revenue from the area.

*Havoc in Heaven = Centered mostly on my destruction of Heaven, and the following consequences, this popular Chinese Opera has been around for awhile. Renowned for its high level of intense action( Yes, lots of Kung Fu), I crash banquets, crush armies, and destroy palaces by the dozens.

The tale of a monkey in an egg, with glowing golden eyes... Nevermind, just read it.

When I was born, Hospitals weren't a thing

You whippersnappers with you wonky gidgy-gadgets and your sanitized  hospitals. Well, when I was born several tens of thousands of years ago(give or take a few centuries) there was no such thing. Even if their had been, it is doubtful they would admit a pregnant rock. Well since my mother was a magical stone atop a mountain on the isle of Flowers and Fruit, no doctors were attendant. You see, my mother exposed to powerful energy from the heavens, covered in potent fungi, and caressed by the wind developed a magical womb. Took a little longer than your average nine months, but eventually a stone egg(that is me!) was released.  The egg grew and grew, until it was the size of boulder, and as it was torn asunder I emerged in all my glory. Though I myself was made of stone, I was like any other monkey. For days after my birth, my eyes shined like gold. Their radiance was so great that on heaven, the Jade Emperor was blinded in one of his meetings. So when he sent someone to check out the 'mysteriously awesome golden beams', he learned of me. Eventually the light began to fade from my retinas(I was tired of not being able to see anything anyways) I got up and moved around. So ends the tale of my birth. What, why do you sit there so confused? What more I do I need to say?
